Eco Dyeing for The Forest Project

Fiber artist Katherine Benner researched eco dyeing, for ten months, before being invited out into the forest by Dawn Flores.  Together they collected fungi, fern, winged sumac, maple, sycamore and blackberry leaves for Katherine to experiment with, transferring pigment from the plants directly onto cotton and silk.  Both artists transplanted material from the forest into their gardens, for further harvesting after the forest is gone.
